Life Long Learning

Yesterday, I started a new chapter in my life in many ways. Previously, in my life I was an IT trainer and worked for many years in corporate training and development. However, after participating recently in an Instructor Skills Workshop, I decided that I wanted more teaching in my life. So, I chose to take the VCC course Provincial Instructors Diploma Program (PIDP).

This particular program will be a great challenge for me as I have always droned on and on about how terrible I am with online learning. Well, due to my schedule, I will be completing this program almost entirely online. My regular work, non-illustrator work, is in the process of converting much of our our onboarding program to an online format as well. This program will be not only teaching me to be an instructor, but I’ll be learning from the premier instructors in the province to enable similar online structures. Now, with my work I won’t be converting it all to online, but rather using a flipped classroom model. This will be a great opportunity to work on my onboarding project all the while learning to be a better instructor as well.

Part of the PIDP requirements is that you have to have an online blog. Here it is.

It’s going to be a great time. I welcome you to join me in this endeavour as I learn how to apply these new skills to the various areas of my life both at my administrative job and as an illustrator. I know – it will be a challenge, but a fun one.
